Biography

As an impressionable youth on the coast of Connecticut, my older cousin (who is a Yankee fan) introduced me to the game of baseball. Since the Mets were more exciting to watch than the Yankees back then, he took me consistently to Shea Stadium starting in '86. We are no longer on speaking terms and he is enjoying his 5-1 championship ratio since that time. And yes that is my NH license plate, and yes I get heckled by Sox fans relentlessly at the gas station.

When in Doubt, Look at the Math.

The R.A. Dickey trade really perplexes me for many different reasons. On one hand I completely understand and appreciate selling high on a 38 year old pitcher on a team that is not going to be in contention this year. One the other hand, I do not understand or appreciate the teams unwillingness to address …

Did the Mayans Predict the End of the World or Just the End of the Mets?

I pulled out my Mayan calendar from the attic and did you know that they predicted on 12/11/2012 that a major athletic organization would crumble? We should really save this date in our Mets memory banks because to me, this is the date that the latest wave of Mets personnel crossed the point of …

See you in 2014. Peace out SaltyGary…

Adam Rubin in a tweet today said Mets GM Sandy Alderson said he acknowledges he does expect the 2013 Opening Day roster to look similar to the end of 2012.   Wasn’t it at the end of the season where Sandy Alderson promised wholesale changes to the team? What has changed, the release of …

Winter Meeting Roundup, Now on to Day Two

Scott Hairston: According to Adam Rubin of ESPN, the Mets feel optimistic about bringing Scott back. He has also seen interest from the Tigers, Giants, Yankees, Indians, and Cardinals to be primarily used in a 4th outfielder and pinch hitting role. Some Guy Named Richard Allen: Most of the news swirled around Mister CY Young …

See the difference yet?

I’m in the mood to stir the pot, so here it goes. What is the main difference you see to the Reyes contract movement verses the Wright contract movement? To me it’s an organization that is actually attempting to sign a player. The communication from the front office is so different for Wrights contract compared …

This Week in Fantasy

Fantasy baseball can be one cruel bitch sometimes. Jose Valverde who hasn’t blown a save since July 14th, blew a save last night and as a result the “Pepsi Porch Tattooers” lost their match to “Team Snukes”. I am shocked that my team won. For the last 2 weeks every player in Pepsi’s (Ceetar) …
