Biography

As an impressionable youth on the coast of Connecticut, my older cousin (who is a Yankee fan) introduced me to the game of baseball. Since the Mets were more exciting to watch than the Yankees back then, he took me consistently to Shea Stadium starting in '86. We are no longer on speaking terms and he is enjoying his 5-1 championship ratio since that time. And yes that is my NH license plate, and yes I get heckled by Sox fans relentlessly at the gas station.

Playing for Peanuts: New Footage

OK, Let’s make this very clear. These videos are NSFW (Not Safe for Work) due to language.   Playing for Peanuts is a documentary style television series about minor league baseball. The ten episode series followed the South Georgia Peanuts of the independent South Coast League during their 2007 season and centers around former Mets …

This Week in Fantasy

What is the good thing about fantasy week 3? No more .500 records. Last week eight out of the ten teams boasted a 1-1 record. This week four teams are 2-1 and four teams are 1-2. Team “Niese’s Nose” managed by our very own Connor O’Brien is showing the Wu Tang sign and letting people …

This Week in Fantasy

How important was it to get a win in week one? Not import this season, in this league.  No team has more than a one game lead and only 2 out of the 10 teams are not 1-1. Standings:   Best Acquisitions of the week: Team Shockers with Kyle Lohse. In 2 starts for the …

This Week in Fantasy

In typical fantasy baseball fashion the 2 highest scoring teams got paired against each other to start the season. Team Texas I’m Stuck In and Team Snuke’s slugged it out to a final score of 536-524.5, with Texas pulling off the victory. Early in the week Texas had a 70 point lead, but by 6pm …

MLB.tv goes Head to Head with Traditional Media Providers.

Gone are the days of starring at the radio to listen to the game or reading the newspaper for baseball information. My son will not be able to reminisce about Sunday’s and being excited about turning on WWOR to catch the Sunday Mets game because we can’t get SportsChannel for the weekday games. That was …

Team to honor Gary Carter by wearing #8 during batting practice.

Being sucked into the vortex that is the NY media, it is always easier to focus on everything the Mets organization does wrong. Having all the players wearing number 8 during batting practice today is everything that is right. Also, by making it a surprise and not having it advertised all week, really exposes the …

Let’s Play a Game: Who Stays, Who Goes or Who Moves?

There has been a lot of talk during the off-season regarding some of the Mets new acquisitions and the likely hood that they are really pawns for a trade. The team also has 7 starters that are natural first basemen playing out of position. OK, slight exaggeration. There are also a few players who …
