You side steped my argument will you allow me the same
and actuallly you poingt is mute player have a very finite carear they need to go where they can get the most casy NY is best because the yANKS SPEND MONEY! a SALRY CAP is needed to ensure comepetion not socialismand i find that funny you live in ny one of the bggest blue states around and say you hate socialism
goddamn it hit the wrong butoon
Okay the Yankees make the most money, they have the highest home AND road attendance in baseball, and they have the most fans - not to mention, ingenius owners as well. While other teams, like the Pirates, pocket their money and continue to suck, the Yankee organization reinvested the money BACK into the team. Why penalize them for that? What are they going to do - regulate the amount of Yankees fans there are in the world? It's ridiculous. People only like the salary cap because they root for teams that don't win.
I don't get it. Competition is fine the way it is. Big-money free agents do NOT guarantee championships. The Yanks won the WS in 2000, D-Backs in 01, Angels in 02, the Marlins in 03, the Red Sox in 04, White Sox in 05, Cardinals in 06, Red Sox in 07, Phillies in 08, Yanks in 09, and Giants in 2010. That's competitoin.
And for your information, I don't identify with a party specifically, but I'd say I have more conservative beliefs. It doesn't matter where I'm from: I was raised knowing what the Founding Fathers intended for this country.
The Red Sox actually had a higher payroll than the Yankees during the offseason. The whole salary cap thing is ridiculous. The Yankees don't "buy" all their players, and they don't "buy" their championships either. Home grown Yankees: Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada,Robinson Cano, Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, David Robertson, Brett Gardner, etc. They TRADED for Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher, Boone Logan. Sure, they sign people. So do all teams. The Yankees just sign the best guys because people want to come to NY because it's a place where there is always a chance of winning.
Even so, basbeall is unpredictable. Look who won the World Series last year. No one would have expected that. Expensive players do not always translate to championships. The competition in baseball is great the way it is now.
The Yankees make the money, and they spend it. That's America. Salary caps offend me because I hate socialism.
It may not get them the title but it does offer an advatage
look above for my reply
Ohhh okay...but what about teams that have greater attendance than other teams? They've got the advantage of fans cheering them on, while other teams play in front of relatively-empty crowds. It doesn't guarantee them the title, but you know - it may offer an advantage. So why not regulate the amount of fans at each game? Because it's unfair that some teams have more than others. And then what about teams with really good Minor League systems? They have the advantage over teams that have weaker talent down there. It doesn't guarantee they will win, but it's still unfair that they might have an advantage, so I guess Minor League talent should be regulated as well...
I mean really. REALLY? Regulation does not create competition. Free-market does, because it gives people something to work for, something to strive for, someone to be better than.
I don't know what team you are a fan of, but just stop being jealous of the Yankees for stupid reasons.
The Yankees at least spend money to win games! If anything, Revenue Sharing is the reason why there is no competition in baseball! Look at the Oakland A's ownership group. The fourth wealthiest in all of baseball. You would think that they would spend the money on players and get fans to support the team. They don't do that while at the same time collecting on the Yankees piece of the pot (like every other bottom feeder in baseball), while at the same time bashing a fan base and threatening to move the team. There's no need for a cap... NONE! But if you got rid of revenue sharing then owners would actually be forced to spend money in order to make it instead of having owners who want to win do it for you!
