The Chicago Blackhawks ended the 2010-2011 disappointingly in the first round losing game 7 to the rival Vancouver Canucks. It was not the way the team wanted to follow up their Stanley Cup winning season. However with the purge that had to take place to get under the cap and all the injuries they had to overcome it really wasn't that bad.

Heading into the 2011 Entry Level draft GM Stan Bowman had 10 picks but after some wheeling and dealing he was able to turn forward Troy Brouwer into a first round pick.
