Curtis Axel (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Big E. Langston for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

This is an interesting situation here, as we have a kickoff match between a star that's sort of floundering, vs. an unproven newly turned babyface.  Big E's work as a face in NXT was regarded by fans as significantly better than anything he's done on TV since he got called up to work with Ziggler and AJ.  Some people just make better good guys.  I think Big E is one of those people.

I have no idea what's going on with Curtis Axel right now, but I'm thinking it's time to abort.  Heyman isn't able to make this work, sadly.  I think it's fair to say they've given up on Axel at this time.

I think we'll see a title switch here, mainly to give the newly turned Langston some fire heading into a title run, but also because I think we'll see Axel head in a different direction after tonight's show.

Winner: Big E Langston to win the Intercontinental Championship
